Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) was the European division of Sony Computer Entertainment, established in London on January 6, 1995, to manage Sony’s PlayStation business across Europe. SCEE played a central role in introducing the original PlayStation to European markets and later supported the launches of the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4. In 1999, Sony-owned developer and publisher Psygnosis was merged into SCEE, strengthening its European development and publishing capabilities. The division subsequently managed studios including Evolution Studios, Bigbig Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, Media Molecule, and Studio Liverpool. During the 2000s and early 2010s, SCEE expanded its role through the development and publication of major PlayStation franchises, including Wipeout, Formula One, MotorStorm, Killzone, and LittleBigPlanet. It also supported the growth of PlayStation Network and other digital entertainment services in European territories. SCEE remained Sony’s principal European PlayStation organization until 2016, when Sony Computer Entertainment was reorganized and renamed Sony Interactive Entertainment.
